3. Not Medical or Clinical Treatment
Retreat Into Wellness does not provide medical diagnosis, medical treatment, emergency medicine, physiotherapy, psychotherapy or psychiatric care unless a particular service is expressly provided by an appropriately regulated professional acting within their professional scope.
Information supplied through the website, a course, retreat, discussion or treatment should not be interpreted as:
- a medical diagnosis;
- a treatment plan for an illness or injury;
- a substitute for advice from a doctor or other qualified healthcare professional;
- a reason to delay seeking medical attention;
- a recommendation to stop or change prescribed medication;
- psychological or psychiatric treatment; or
- emergency medical advice.
Continue to follow the advice of your doctor, consultant, pharmacist, midwife, physiotherapist or other suitably qualified healthcare professional.
4. Emergencies and Urgent Health Concerns
A retreat, meditation session or complementary treatment should not be used instead of urgent medical or mental-health support.
5. Your Responsibility to Provide Relevant Information
Before booking and before participating, you must tell us about any condition or circumstance that may affect:
- the safety or suitability of an activity;
- your ability to take part;
- the suitability of a massage or treatment;
- venue or bedroom accessibility;
- dietary or allergy arrangements;
- emergency planning; or
- the safety of other guests or practitioners.
Relevant information may include:
- pregnancy or recent childbirth;
- heart, circulatory or blood-pressure conditions;
- breathing difficulties;
- epilepsy, seizures, fainting or unexplained dizziness;
- recent surgery, fractures or serious injury;
- joint, spinal, muscular or neurological conditions;
- blood-clotting conditions, thrombosis or anticoagulant medication;
- cancer or active medical treatment;
- osteoporosis or bone fragility;
- skin infection, open wounds, inflammation or acute pain;
- infectious illness, fever or symptoms of contagious disease;
- significant mental-health conditions or recent crises;
- allergies or reactions to oils, lotions, foods or materials;
- disability, mobility requirements or need for a reasonable adjustment; and
- any professional advice limiting exercise, massage, travel or participation.
This list is not exhaustive. Tell us whenever you are uncertain whether something may be relevant.
You must also update us if your health or circumstances change after booking.
6. Medical Advice Before Participation
You should obtain advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before participating where:
- you have been advised to restrict physical activity;
- you are recovering from surgery or serious illness;
- you have unexplained or worsening symptoms;
- you are pregnant and uncertain about an activity or treatment;
- you have a condition affected by massage, movement, breathing exercises or travel;
- you have recently changed medication;
- you are receiving active medical or psychological treatment; or
- you have any doubt about whether participation is appropriate.
We may reasonably ask you to obtain medical advice or clearance where the information provided raises a genuine safety or suitability concern.
A request for professional advice is not intended to discriminate against a guest. It is used only where reasonably necessary to understand or manage a relevant risk.
7. Voluntary and Informed Participation
Participation in a particular activity or treatment is voluntary.
Before taking part, you should:
- listen to the explanation provided;
- ask questions where anything is unclear;
- tell the practitioner about relevant conditions or concerns;
- work within your own abilities;
- follow reasonable safety instructions; and
- stop immediately if you feel unwell, unsafe or uncomfortable.
You may pause, modify or decline an activity without being required to explain personal medical details to the wider group.
Choosing not to participate in one part of a retreat does not automatically create a right to a refund where the wider booked experience remains available.
8. Yoga, Movement and Physical Activities
Yoga, stretching, walking and other physical activities can involve a risk of strain, loss of balance, aggravation of an existing condition or other injury.
Guests should:
- work at a comfortable level rather than competing with others;
- use supports or adaptations where offered;
- avoid movements that cause pain, dizziness or unusual symptoms;
- tell the instructor about injuries or movement restrictions;
- wear suitable clothing and footwear where required; and
- follow instructions relating to surfaces, equipment and outdoor conditions.
An instructor may suggest an adaptation or ask a guest not to perform a particular movement where there is a reasonable safety concern.
No activity should be continued through sharp pain, chest pain, serious breathlessness, faintness or neurological symptoms.
9. Meditation, Relaxation and Breathing Awareness
Meditation, deep relaxation, visualisation and reflective practices may produce different emotional and physical responses.
Some people may experience:
- unexpected emotions;
- memories or difficult thoughts;
- temporary anxiety or restlessness;
- dizziness or discomfort during breathing exercises; or
- difficulty remaining in a particular position.
You may open your eyes, change position, pause or leave a session where necessary.
Tell the facilitator privately if you have a history of trauma, panic attacks, psychosis, severe dissociation or another condition that may be affected by intensive meditation or reflective work.
Retreat Into Wellness sessions are not a substitute for psychological therapy, psychiatric treatment or crisis support.
10. Massage, Reflexology and Bodywork
Massage, reflexology and bodywork are offered as complementary wellbeing services.
They are not medical diagnosis, physiotherapy or a guaranteed treatment for an injury or health condition.
Before a treatment, tell the practitioner about:
- pain, injury or recent surgery;
- pregnancy;
- skin conditions, infection, swelling or open wounds;
- thrombosis, blood-clotting concerns or anticoagulant medication;
- heart or circulatory conditions;
- bone fragility or osteoporosis;
- allergies or sensitivities to treatment products;
- loss of sensation or neurological symptoms; and
- medical advice that may affect treatment.
The practitioner may:
- alter the pressure, duration or treatment area;
- avoid an injured or affected area;
- offer an alternative treatment;
- request medical advice before proceeding; or
- postpone or decline the treatment where it cannot safely or appropriately be provided.
Tell the practitioner immediately if the treatment causes pain, numbness, dizziness, distress or other unexpected symptoms.
11. Privacy, Dignity and Treatment Consent
The practitioner will explain the general nature of a treatment and obtain appropriate consent before beginning.
You may:
- ask questions before or during the treatment;
- request a change in pressure or position;
- decline treatment to a particular area;
- withdraw consent and stop the treatment at any time; and
- request clarification about clothing, draping or privacy arrangements.
Appropriate professional boundaries, privacy and draping will be maintained for treatments requiring access to part of the body.
OMNI Kriya Massage Therapy is provided fully clothed where described in the relevant service information.
12. OMNI Healing and Energy-Based Practices
OMNI Healing, chakra work, energy practices and related spiritual-development activities are provided as complementary wellbeing or spiritual experiences.
They are not presented as:
- a medical test or diagnosis;
- a cure for illness;
- a replacement for prescribed treatment;
- evidence that a person does or does not have a medical condition; or
- a guaranteed way to achieve a particular physical, emotional or spiritual outcome.
Experiences and interpretations are personal and may differ between individuals.
A guest may decline an energy-based or spiritual activity without being required to adopt or agree with a particular belief.
13. Spiritual and Personal-Development Courses
Spiritual development, chakra awareness, the Mayan Medicine Wheel and related programmes are provided for education, reflection and personal exploration.
Course material represents the teaching approach used within the programme. It should not be treated as established medical, scientific, legal or financial advice.
Participants remain free to consider, question or reject any spiritual interpretation or belief discussed during a course.
14. Emotional and Mental Wellbeing
Retreats, group discussion, meditation and reflective exercises can sometimes bring up difficult emotions or personal memories.
Tell a host privately where you feel overwhelmed or need to leave a session.
Retreat Into Wellness does not provide crisis intervention, psychiatric diagnosis or psychotherapy through ordinary retreats and wellbeing courses.
Anyone experiencing severe psychological distress, suicidal thoughts, psychosis, mania or another acute mental-health crisis should seek urgent support from an appropriate healthcare or emergency service.
We may advise that a retreat or particular session is not suitable where an acute condition requires a higher level of professional support than we can safely provide.
15. Pregnancy and Postnatal Participation
Pregnancy and the postnatal period can affect the suitability of movement, massage, reflexology, positioning, travel and other activities.
Tell us before booking if you are pregnant or recently gave birth.
Obtain advice from your midwife, doctor or another appropriately qualified professional where you are uncertain whether an activity or treatment is suitable.
A practitioner may adapt or decline a treatment where it cannot be provided safely within their training, insurance or professional scope.
16. Medication, Alcohol and Other Substances
Do not stop, reduce or change prescribed medication because of anything discussed during a retreat, course or complementary treatment.
Speak to the prescribing healthcare professional about medication concerns.
You must not participate in a treatment or activity while intoxicated or materially impaired by alcohol, recreational drugs or another substance.
A practitioner or host may refuse participation where intoxication creates a safety, consent or conduct concern.
17. Food, Allergies and Dietary Requirements
Tell us about food allergies, intolerances and essential dietary requirements before booking and reconfirm them when requested.
Relevant information may be shared with a venue or caterer to help make appropriate arrangements.
Although reasonable care will be taken, a completely allergen-free environment cannot be guaranteed where food is prepared or served in shared kitchens or facilities.
Guests with a serious allergy remain responsible for carrying prescribed emergency medication and explaining relevant emergency arrangements.
18. Infectious Illness
Do not attend a retreat, course or treatment where you have an infectious illness that could reasonably place other guests, practitioners or venue staff at risk.
Contact us as soon as possible where illness may affect attendance.
Any cancellation, transfer or refund will be considered under the applicable Booking Terms and Cancellation Policy .
19. Accessibility and Reasonable Adjustments
Tell us about disability, mobility, communication or access requirements before booking.
We will consider reasonable adjustments and discuss what can be provided.
Accessibility varies between third-party retreat venues, and not every venue or activity can meet every individual requirement.
We will not make assumptions about your ability to participate. Where a limitation exists, we will discuss available adaptations or alternatives where reasonably possible.
Please also read our Accessibility Statement.
20. Adaptation or Refusal of an Activity or Treatment
A host, instructor or practitioner may reasonably adapt, postpone or refuse an activity or treatment where:
- relevant health information has not been provided;
- the guest appears unable to give valid consent;
- the guest is intoxicated or materially impaired;
- there is an infectious condition or open wound;
- the activity falls outside the practitioner’s training or insurance;
- appropriate medical advice is required first;
- equipment or facilities are unsuitable;
- the requested adjustment cannot safely be provided; or
- there is another genuine and proportionate safety concern.
Decisions will be made carefully and will not be based on assumptions, prejudice or an intention to avoid reasonable adjustments.
21. No Guarantee of Results
People respond differently to massage, meditation, movement, energy work, courses and retreat experiences.
Retreat Into Wellness does not guarantee:
- relief from pain or symptoms;
- recovery from an illness or injury;
- weight loss or physical transformation;
- a particular emotional response;
- a spiritual experience;
- improved relationships, employment or finances; or
- any other specific result.
Testimonials and reviews describe individual experiences and are not promises that another person will experience the same outcome.
22. Personal Responsibility During an Experience
Guests are expected to:
- provide accurate and relevant information;
- follow reasonable instructions;
- use equipment appropriately;
- tell a host or practitioner when something feels wrong;
- avoid activities they have been medically advised not to undertake;
- take reasonable care for their own safety; and
- behave in a way that does not place others at avoidable risk.
These responsibilities do not remove the duty of Retreat Into Wellness and its practitioners to use reasonable care and skill.
23. Our Responsibility and Your Legal Rights
Retreat Into Wellness will provide its contracted services with reasonable care and skill.
Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits responsibility for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- deliberate wrongdoing;
- breach of statutory consumer rights; or
- any responsibility that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
This disclaimer explains the non-medical nature and reasonable limits of the services. It is not intended to exclude all responsibility or transfer risks to a guest where those risks should properly remain with the business or practitioner.
Subject to applicable law, Retreat Into Wellness is not responsible for harm caused entirely by:
- materially inaccurate or withheld information supplied by a guest;
- a guest ignoring clear and reasonable safety instructions;
- participation against specific medical advice;
- an independent service not forming part of the Retreat Into Wellness contract; or
- conduct that Retreat Into Wellness could not reasonably foresee or prevent.
24. Personal Information and Confidentiality
Health, dietary and accessibility information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Notice.
Relevant information may be shared with a practitioner, venue, caterer or emergency service where reasonably necessary for:
- safe treatment or participation;
- dietary or allergy arrangements;
- a requested reasonable adjustment;
- emergency assistance; or
- the establishment, exercise or defence of a legal claim.
Group discussions should be treated respectfully and confidentially by participants. However, Retreat Into Wellness cannot guarantee that another guest will always comply with that expectation.
Confidentiality may also be limited where disclosure is reasonably necessary because of an immediate risk of serious harm, safeguarding concern or legal obligation.
25. Changes to This Disclaimer
This disclaimer may be updated to reflect changes to our services, professional practices or legal obligations.
The current version will be published on this page with its latest revision date.
The version supplied or made available when a booking is made will normally apply to that booking.
